Antony Major

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Antony Major, who passed away on August 26, 2026, at the age of 82.
My Dad was a man with a truly generous heart — warm, caring, and someone who naturally brought people together. He loved people, life’s simple moments, music, laughter, and above all, seeing those he loved happy.
Over the years, he often reflected on the meaning of happiness and eventually found his own definition, one he frequently shared with those around him:
“Happiness is enjoying good times and living in the present moment.”
This was more than something he simply said — it was the way he lived his life.
Family and friends are invited to gather on September 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at McConnery’s Funeral Home Maniwaki, to offer their condolences and share memories of Tony.
At 2:00 p.m., a traditional Indigenous ceremony will be held in his honour, including personal tributes, traditional songs, and a sharing circle.
Burial at the cemetery will follow the ceremony, in keeping with tradition and in an atmosphere of intimacy and respect. A meal will then be served, allowing family and friends to continue the gathering and sharing memories.
We will remember his smile, his music, his stories and his laughter, but most of all, the beautiful lesson he leaves behind: to appreciate the present moment and enjoy the good times with the people we love.
Because, in the end, to him, that was what happiness was all about...
Antony (Tony) leaves to mourn:
His daughter, Nancy (Simon);
His late son, Mario;
His grandson, Mathew (Raphael);
His brothers and sisters:
the late Romeo, the late Raymond, Patricia Monnagham (Evey), Lise, Diane, Lyne (Marc), Linda (the late Daniel), and Suzanne (Patrice);
as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members and friends.
