AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Martha Moore

Martha Moore

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our precious wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Martha Moore (nee Cronier). She passed peacefully, surrounded by family and love, on October 6h, 2025, at the age of 79. Born in Port Colborne, Ontario, daughter of the late Theophile Cronier and Elvine Noel, Martha enjoyed a long and loving life with her beloved husband, Gary, in Maniwaki, Quebec.

In addition to her husband, she is mourned by her children Dale and Holly (Doug Ellison), her grandchildren, Sarah (Maxime Bourbonnais), Eric, Kassandra (Felix Mongrain), Meagan and Brandon and great-grandchild, Becca, as well her step grandchildren Jarred (Jo) and Maegan (Jonathan). She is also survived by her brother, Ernie (Silvana) and sister, Elaine (Bob) and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her cherished son, Colin and her sister, Zita.

Martha’s grandchildren were her world and her great-granddaughter her shining soul.

She had a very strong sense of community and, much like her mother before her, believed in giving back and volunteerism. She was a warden of St. Patrick’s Parish in Maniwaki.

Martha became a fervent supporter of the Canadian Cancer Society and other non-for-profit organizations following her first battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2000. She headed the local annual daffodil campaign, starting in 2005, for many years. Was co-founder of the Maniwaki Relay for Life (along with Lyne Jolivette) which raised $750,000 in 9 editions, starting in 2008. She advocated for local cancer resources resulting in establishment of a dedicated space for cancer care at the Centre de Service dans la Valley de la Gatineau. She received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012) for her tireless volunteerism and the Canadian Cancer Society’s Medal of Courage (2015).

A very special thank you to Sandra Dubeau for her loving care of Martha over the many years, we are eternally grateful for her. The family would also like to share a heartfelt thank you to the entire team of doctors and nurses from the CISSS de l’Outaouais including the Oncology department at l’Hôpital de Gatineau (Dr. Jacques), Emergency ward at l’Hôpital de Maniwaki as well as the amazing home care team from the CLSC in Maniwaki, and especially the Palliative care team (Dr. Legault, Dr. Bertrand, Marthe, Ann, Carolann, Annik & Shanny), in Maniwaki, and so many others that worked with us around the clock to allow Martha to remain with us at home until the very end.

Mass will be held on Saturday, October 25th, 2025, at 11am at St. Patrick Presbytery, located at 253 Rue des Oblats, Maniwaki, with condolences from 10:30am. The family invites you to consider wearing a touch of pink, her favorite colour.
